Episode 201: Unconditional Well-Being

In the opening episode of Season Two of the Open Question podcast, Unconditional Wellbeing, Elizabeth speaks with her teacher, Dzigar Kongtrul Rinpoche on the topic of the Buddhist training in patience as an extension of the practice of universal love. The unconditional wellbeing that the practice produces is based on developing confidence in yourself and your ability.

“I am a firm believer that patience is what we all need. It is what will make our lives peaceful and rich and workable. We can enjoy our world with all of its complexities, the entire mix…” says Dzigar Kongtrul Rinpoche.

This poignant and lively conversation between Elizabeth and her teacher is in itself a rich and beautiful teaching.

The sixth chapter of the classic text by the 8th-century Indian philosopher Shantideva, The Way of the Bodhisattva, gets new treatment in Dzigar Kongtrul’s new book, Peaceful Heart: The Buddhist Practice of Patience.
