OQ Live Conversation: “What Serves?” with Dungse Jampal and Elizabeth Mattis Namgyel.

Elizabeth’s teaching theme in 2023 is The Self: Walking the Middle Way Path. Please join us live on: May 20th at 2pm Mountain Time, for our next OQ Live Conversation: “What Serves?”with Dungse Jampal and Elizabeth Mattis Namgyel.

Dungse-la and Elizabeth will discuss the unique Lojong methodologies of working with the self, and why they are referred to as the Buddhist mind training teachings. These teachings offer a way to turn our focus away from self-centeredness and towards caring for others. How does this method specifically support a healthy sense of self?

Open Question Podcast Episode 402: “The Self: Mind and Its World”

If you think about it, the most intimate relationship we will ever have, is the relationship we have with our SELF! Ironically, when we look for a singular permanent or autonomous self, all we can find is a myriad of dynamic contingent relationships. In this podcast Elizabeth introduces us to the Buddha’s most essential insight: “dependent arising,’”and leads us through a classic Middle Way investigation: “Can you locate where your mind ends and where the world begins?” leading us to a deeper understanding of mind and its world.

Is Karma Fair? Understanding Karma Through Buddhist Mind Training

Teacher: Dungse Jampal Norbu

Date: May 6 – 7, 2023 | Location: In-person at Pema Osel, VT and Live Streaming

Our perspective on fairness says a lot about who we are and how we engage with the world. Though we may have ideals of universal fairness, at times we may struggle to accept what happens in our own lives. By turning our attention to our mind, we can begin to understand the events in our lives in terms of karma, rather than viewing them as good or bad things that merely happen to us.

This program will be held in-person at Pema Osel. It will also be streamed live by Wisdom Productions. The weekend will include three talks, along with Q&A with Dungse Jampal Norbu. Meditation sessions and a discussion group will be hosted in-person and on Zoom and led by senior Mangala Shri Bhuti students.

If you are not able to watch in real time, video recordings of the talks will be available for viewing for two weeks after the event.

In these teachings Dungse-la will continue his exploration of lojong in daily life. You can also purchase recordings of his 2021, and 2022 Lojong programs at Wisdom Productions or check out his podcast EveryBodhi, which addresses the lojong slogans in a series of interviews with friends and practitioners
