Please join us on Saturday, September 5, 2026 from 5-7pm USA MT for the OQ Live Conversation: “Supporting Our Teacher’s Vision” with Elizabeth Mattis Namgyel and Dolma Gunther.
In this Open Question Conversation, Elizabeth will engage her old friend, Dolma Gunther, on the topic of what it means to support the teacher’s vision. Dolma is a long-term practitioner, law professional and founder of the Khyentse Vision Project under the direction of her teachers, Dzongzar Khyentse Rinpoche and Khyentse Jigme Rinpoche. This project is dedicated to translating the works of the Lineage of Jamyang Khyentse Wangpo. Dolma also shares Elizabeth’s passion for the Middle Way teachings, setting the stage for what will likely be a very rich conversation. You are warmly invited to this event, to make a connection with Dolma Gunther and Elizabeth as they illuminate the dharma.

ABOUT ELIZABETH MATTIS NAMGYEL
Elizabeth Mattis Namgyel is a Buddhist author, teacher in Mangala Shri Bhuti, and founder of the educational non-profit The Middle Way Initiative. She hosts the Open Question Podcast.
Elizabeth has studied and practiced Buddhism since 1985 under the guidance of her root teacher Dzigar Kongtrul Rinpoche. She is the Retreat Master at Samten Ling retreat center. She is the author of two books, The Power of an Open Question and The Logic of Faith. Elizabeth is an adviser for the Prison Mindfulness Institute and the Khyentse Foundation Vision Project and the Melinda Program. With Anam Thubten, she is a founding member and teacher in the Wilderness Dharma Movement.

ABOUT DOLMA GUNTHER
Dolma Gunther is the founder and creative director of the Khyentse Vision Project, and is responsible for developing and delivering the project’s strategic vision. She manages the project’s operations, people, and resources, and brings to the project robust leadership, creative thinking and process optimization. She is a student of Jigme Khyentse Rinpoche and Dzongsar Khyentse Rinpoche. After completing a traditional three-year retreat, Dolma undertook a law degree at the University of Sydney, and subsequently worked as a litigation lawyer, and then as a senior editor and writer. She is the director and founder of Happy Dance Films, for which she directed the award-winning short film Finding Manjushri.
Recently, she helped co-found a grassroots environmental activism group which advocates for regulatory best practice to protect biodiversity, climate and water resources in Australia.
Dolma currently lives in a small beachside hamlet in Australia with her husband and two cats. When she isn’t working, she designs earrings, plays the cello, and is making a documentary on the nature of authenticity and the role of unconventionality in the Vajrayana teacher-student relationship.

SOBRE ELIZABETH MATTIS NAMGYEL
Elizabeth Mattis Namgyel é autora e professora budista na Mangala Shri Bhuti, além de fundadora da organização educacional sem fins lucrativos The Middle Way Initiative. Ela também conduz o podcast Open Question. Desde 1985, dedica-se ao estudo e à prática do budismo sob a orientação de seu mestre raiz, Dzigar Kongtrul Rinpoche. SOBRE DOLMA GUNTHER
Dolma Gunther é a fundadora e diretora criativa do Khyentse Vision Project, sendo responsável por desenvolver e implementar a visão estratégica da iniciativa. Ela gerencia as operações, as equipes e os recursos do projeto, contribuindo com uma liderança sólida, pensamento criativo e otimização de processos.
É aluna de Jigme Khyentse Rinpoche e Dzongsar Khyentse Rinpoche. Após concluir um retiro tradicional de três anos, formou-se em Direito pela Universidade de Sydney, onde iniciou sua carreira como advogada especializada em litígios. Posteriormente, atuou como editora sênior e redatora.
Dolma também é fundadora e diretora da Happy Dance Films, produtora pela qual dirigiu o premiado curta-metragem Finding Manjushri. Mais recentemente, ajudou a fundar um movimento de ativismo ambiental de base comunitária que defende a adoção de melhores práticas regulatórias para proteger a biodiversidade, o clima e os recursos hídricos na Austrália.
Atualmente, vive em um pequeno vilarejo litorâneo na Austrália com seu marido e seus dois gatos. Nos momentos livres, cria brincos artesanais, toca violoncelo e está produzindo um documentário sobre a natureza da autenticidade e o papel da não convencionalidade na relação entre mestres e estudantes do Vajrayana.
